Personal Goods Import into Australia
When bringing in personal belongings, it is mandatory that you have possessed and utilized the items for the preceding 12 months. Personal effects are exempt from duties and GST (Goods and Services Tax), but may incur taxes if you are importing items such as wine, tobacco, or motor vehicles.
Due to their potential risk, personal effects may be subjected to inspection by Customs and Quarantine, or solely by Quarantine.
You have the option to import personal effects via Airfreight or seafreight, either in full container loads or packed into a “share” container as a LCL (Less than Container Load) shipment.

- If you hold an Australian passport, we only require the photo page and any stamped pages from the passport to be forwarded with the documents.
